Hourly rates and daily rates
When customers are researching truck rental options, these are the rates they’ll consider first and foremost. We’ve found that hourly rates more than $20 an hour or daily rates more than $80 do not perform well. Smaller vans or trucks will typically rent between $10-$15/hour, while larger vehicles will rent for $12 - $20 per hour.
For daily rates, smaller vehicles will rent at $40-$60 per day and larger vehicles at $50-$80 per day.
All vehicles must include at least 10 free miles. Offering more free miles is a strong way to differentiate your vehicle. Some partners have seen success offering 100 – 200 free miles per day.
If you are offering a higher daily rate, we recommend offering more free miles.
Additional mileage rate is also an opportunity to differentiate. We’ve seen rates from 19 cents to 89 cents per mile, varying based on vehicle type and location.
Security deposits are used in the event that a renter has any outstanding amounts owed on their rental. Security deposits help protect your vehicle.
However, security deposits are also an extra upfront cost for your renters. Charging too high of a security deposit will deter customers from renting your vehicle.
Ultimately, your security deposit policy will depend on your vehicle, location and other considerations in your local market. As a starting point, the most common security deposit for a daily rental is $100, but you’ll want to customize that based on your area and goals.
